Love hurts. Unrequited love hurts more. But you know what hurts the worst? Unrequited love with two people... who are carbon copies.Talk about a sad story!
Unfortch, that’s the very scenario Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) experiences week after week with Elena and Katherine. And while you’d think the arguably sexier Salvatore would have no trouble snagging himself a lady, the opposite seems to be true (unless, of course, compulsion is involved). But, as Somerhalder recently told Zap2It, his character can’t play cool forever. Apparently it’s only a matter of time until Damon breaks down! “Being in love with two people at the same time that don't love you and look exactly alike, I think it's just building up to this place where this poor guy snaps," Somerhalder said.
He continued: "If it doesn't happen for Damon with Elena — I think it's going to be a slow roast, but I would imagine if that doesn't work out, he'd probably just take his ring off. I don't think it would be worth it anymore."
We definitely don’t like thinking about Damon blowing up Isobel-style, but we do like Ian’s use of the word “if.” That means there’s still hope for a Damon/Elena romance!
