You'll be surprised at how quickly and how much you can pick up just by playing round. Obviously books are good for exploring the more difficult/hidden aspects of the OS but it really is fairly easy to pick up. There are a few different things to get used to, like an app doesn't quit when you close it, but on the whole it makes a lot of sense...and remember keyboard shortcuts are your friends!

If you're putting you music in itunes you may as well put your vids in there.
I'd personally keep them in folders and get Plex.

Hi everyone,
Just in case anyone happens to have the same problem I'm having, I want to update this thread with my solution.
I've decided to just get a hardware in-line volume control such as this one (http://www.dealextreme.com/p/53960?r.88888888) from DealExtreme.
It's quick, inexpensive, and I don't have to mess with the meta-data in all of my files.

I installed iOS4 on my 3G right away and it was great. Definitely not slower in any way, and I still got to use all of the new features besides multitasking and orientation lock. I did get an iPhone 4, but my sister is using the 3G with iOS4 every day and neither of us have noticed any problems.
iOS 4 on the iPhone 3G absolutely kills it. Everything becomes incredibly slow. Apple should never have let the iPhone 3G get the 4.0 update..

I'm still looking for a Javascript IDE. Today I learned that Netscape and ActiveState plan to (http://www.activestate.com/Corporate/Communications/Releases/Press959151041.html) co-develop a Javascript IDE based on ActiveState's Komodo (http://www.activestate.com/Products/Komodo/) product, but I learned from their product manager that they are still deciding what features it will include. So it doesn't sound imminent.
If anyone knows of a Javascript IDE product that already exists, please let me know.
Thanks!

i'm not quite sure how i can safely jailbreak my ipod. it has already been jailbroken with spirit and its on version 3.1.3(7E18). Its model is MC086ZP. I want to update it to any versions of ios 4.0 and up and then jailbreak it. please help. Also it was jailbroken with spirit.
Do you have SHSH's saved for 4.0?
Open up Cydia and check to see if it says "iOS 3.1.3, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2.1, 4.3"
If there are any "4.x" numbers then I can help you.
If Cydia just shows 3.1.3 or nothing, then you cant do anything and you will have to wait for a 4.3 jailbreak.

I am hoping for the day the world is engulfed in a Nuclear time bomb.. I am about ready to leave this crude and vile world.
haha!
I was about to post the same thing, except I wouldn't want to leave the world, I would somehow miraculously survive and roam the devastated cities with a cloak, or maybe a cape, I haven't decided yet.
-------------
This perhaps raises a bigger question
Does having a cape matter? Do you own a cape or something similar?

I wanna preface this by informing everyone that I despise Kobe Bryant.
However, I think the term he used has become such a commonplace derogatory name that to call it anti-gay is hardly appropriate anymore.
Looking for everyone's thoughts on the event.

Give it to someone who can't afford a gaming system.
I know people I could give it to, but surely they would have no use for it either. Without a working CD drive they won't be able to play games on it!

I've been making a slideshow in imovie `11 but i seem to be having problems. Some of the pictures have the ken burns effect to zoom in, zoom out or pan over the pic. When i watch it back the pictures seem to be jittery almost like i can see each frame. I was looking for a more smooth quality. Is there a way to achieve this?

And even with the hassles of city parking, it will be infinitely better than making the trek out to the Chermside store. I guess it depends what side of town you're on though. I look forward to a thirty minute round trip instead of 90 minute round trip.
Sorry New Zealanders, South Australians and all those who don't have access to a real Apple Store. They are awesome. The first time I saw one in Osaka I nearly wet myself.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/jetblue-flight-attendant-steven-slater-arrested-flight-jfk/story?id=11361298
"A frustrated JetBlue flight attendant allegedly fled his plane via emergency chute -- beer in hand -- after getting into a fight with a passenger and then cursing out the entire cabin over a loudspeaker.
JetBlue worker Steven Slater allegedly fled plane via an emergency slide.
The JetBlue flight from Pittsburgh arrived at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport shortly after noon. As the plane was taxiing to the gate, one of the passengers apparently got out of his seat to grab a bag from an overhead compartment.
The flight attendant walked over to tell him he had to sit down. The two reportedly got into an argument and somehow the flight attendant got hit in the head with either the bag or the compartment door.
At that point, the flight attendant got on the loud speaker, told those aboard to "go ******* themselves," grabbed a beer from the galley, deployed the chute and ran into the terminal. His car was parked at an employee lot and he drove home.
The attendant was arrested at his nearby home about a half an hour later by Port Authority police. Steven Slater, 38, of the Belle Harbor section of Queens, N.Y., has been charged with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment, according to a spokeswoman for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, which runs the New York-area airports. The case is still being investigated but will be referred to the Queens District Attorney's office.
JetBlue would not say how long Slater has worked for the airline, but his LinkedIn profile says he worked as a flight attendant since 1994, when he worked for the former Business Express. He also worked for the now-defunct TWA and for Delta, then apparently had a job as the Burberry accessories shop manager at Bloomingdale's. According to the profile, at JetBlue he is a member of the "inflight values committee" and is the chairman of the "uniform redesign committee."

The combination of black and blue (image 3) is really good. But I think you can change font style for mobile & email. This one is little hard to read and looks a bit casual too.
But I really dont like that last one (green). Looks very gaudy!

Well thats annoying.
I normally display all my music by album, and iTunes used to display by Song, when i Show Duplicates.
Somewhere along the updates to iTunes they stopped making this change and just sort via Albums.
If i sortvia songs again it displays everything the right way, but when i leave Show Duplicates i have to re-sort it via Albums again.
Ah well, at least it works.

Is the screen durable on these? I never bought one yet because I already had a 5G nano, and I didn't need one. However, the screen on my 5G nano, just took a dump, and I'm contemplating one of these. However, I'm not very nice to my iPods. So I need to make sure the touch screen will take a beating before I buy one.
