Looking at The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev(Elena), you’d think the slender and sexy starlet is on a strict diet and workout regime. That’s not entirely untrue: We know she loves the hot yoga. And while we’re sure all those sun salutations contribute to her striking physique, we were surprised to learn Nina’s diet consists of more than green juice and salads.
Nina recently discussed her short (read: failed) stint into vegetarianism with Seventeen Fitnessmagazine. "At the end of last year, I tried being a vegetarian for four months, and after awhile, I started feeling weak, like I needed more protein, more energy," explained the Bulgarian actress.
Around that same time Nina read a review of TVDin which a writer called her too thin and poked fun at her weight. In order to remedy that situation, Nina gave up the veg lifestyle. “It made me think: I need a burger — a beef burger, not a soy burger,” she admits.
But just because Nina couldn’t hack it, she says she has “so much respect for vegetarians” and she’s “so glad” she gave it a go. And like they say: Don’t knock it til you veg it... or whatever.
