I don't know, I could see apple doing a quad core if they could get the battery life so what manageable. And I don't think a 4 inch screen is that noticeable from just holding the phone, but it makes a world of difference when your watching something or even just browsing. I think 4.3 is almost to big even though I have a Thunderbolt as well and its a beefy phone but I think 4 inches would be almost perfect for this phone. The question is how many people want to have a bigger phone? I don't know if it will be bigger or not but I don't think a bigger sized phone is a always a good idea. Not saying a small increase in screen size (not resolution) will not happen I just don't want my iPhone becoming an iPad mini!

FYI the A5 CPU is already dual core chip, so I think there is no way the iPhone 5 will be a dual A5 (making it a Quad core CPU) for a mobile phone. I don't think the vastly smaller battery in the phone compared to the iPad could handle it!

Just an update......... it worked for me in my hotel room !

    Unfortunately two issues

It takes anywhere from 1 to 10 tries to make it connect

    And

My hotel wireless is too slow to keep a channel without skipping (but that is not the iPads fault)

So thanks for the help by the way !
If the hotel wifi is slow that's probably why it took a few trys to connect. I tried it at a Starbucks and McDonalds WiFi and it worked very well. The channels were clear and didn't skip/freeze.

Well there would be no harm waiting till the Christmas season. Give it 2 months and get one in December - most likley any updates will have happened by then (if any are going to happen).

Possible they could get a small speed bump quietly like the mini .

Has anyone find it necessary to close and re-open Chrome, iTunes, and Finder on Mac OSX (SL) from time to time? This applies only if you never turn off your Mac.
I don't use Chrome, but I never have to close and reopen Safari, iTunes, Finder or any other app. The only time I restart is when Software Update requires it.

If the majority of this forum (not adressing or insulting you) would take of their Apple glasses, they would see the reality or at least the potential of the Windows Phone. I love my mac, but I am not biased to some cult.

Windows Phone launched in November, since then they managed to deliver 10k+ apps (and no, 70% of them aren't spam) ! Faster than both iOS and Android app growth rate when they launched. Of course, Microsoft needs to play catch up right now but they surely DID deliver an almost bug-free system right out the box.
Add that (apparently) they managed to sell around 600K+ phones only in February and the total is now around 2.5 million .. NOT bad for a starter, eh ?
Microsoft spent half a bilion only on advertising. They also "bought" Nokia for 1 billion. They basically bought the best hardware manufacturer (IMO, a smartphone in 2011 with a price of >400$ made of plastic is a cheap joke! No wonder about that 500$ laptop Steve quote ..) thus being able to penetrate markets worldwide much faster. Nokia is still #1 in terms of popularity at least. Agressive to say the least..

Have you actually used a WP? Every single time someone watched mine or played with it they went totally wow. Updates are coming and scheduled already.

Joe Belfiore (the "chief" of WP department) was invited to AllThingsD and while being bashed by that old man Apple fanboy he kept his calm and also stayed totally pro also providing a 2-year time to become a big player.

Android is now where it is because of the time they hit, not because of providing a better experience than iOS. They were the first to fight iOS while others were still cooking their own OS or were still using Symbian lol. It's still a laggy OS even with dual cores for crying out loud.
I am not saying WP is going to beat iOS in 2 years, no way but I see it as Microsoft most ambitious project since 360. And look where that got.

That's one way of looking at it.

Another would be that Microsoft managed to fumble away a substantial foothold in the mobile marketplace before delivering WP7, while watching Apple and Google stake their claims.

Apple's market share of desktops is pretty small, and smaller in the enterprise, but it's high on laptops, very high on the upper end laptops, very high on smartphones, extremely high on portable music players, extremely high on tablets.

And in any case the question is: does Apple make money?

    The answer: Yes.

1TB total is often enough. I have just over that much that much spread over 3 external drives (2 320GB freeagent Go 1st generations, 1 500GB G-Drive Mini 7200rpm). That will fit a lot of pictures. My drives aren't full yet, and in fact I probably have only 500GB of space for pictures, as I duplicate the contents of the drives as a basic backup. (In other words- dont rely on a single drive).

When you're just starting out you'll take a lot of pictures, and I mean a lot. But over time once you learn your camera and photographic techniques that you like, you'll be able to get that 'perfect shot' with just one, so you won't be taking half as many pictures and that will take half as much space. (This is coming from a guy who took 7400 pictures in just two weeks in NYC and Washington DC).

They got their value out of Connectix in Virtual Server. Like it or not the Mac stuff was just the tip of the iceberg.

After reading the Wiki article I linked to I am also not sure how much of Connectix was bought by MS.

    Justification for DRM
I understand the need for DRM. Apple would never be able to sell us all that great music without the DRM. I have no problem with the DRM. I think it's fair. If I were an artist, I wouldn't want to make it so easy for people to freely distribute my music royalty-free. If a million people like my song enough to own a copy, then I should see a million payments on it. That's fair.

Not as good for Apple as it would seem
A long time ago, Jobs stated that the goal of the iTunes Music Store wasn't to turn a profit, but to market iPods. By providing a easy-to-use, cheap, legal way to sell iPod-compatible music, Apple is able to sell more iPods. It has clearly worked like a charm.

So you're asking "well, if other websites can sell iTunes-compatible DRM protected music, it will sell more iPods too, right?" Well technically yes; You're right. But let me ask you this; what separated the Apple User Experience from most? What sets Mac OS X apart from other OS's, or the iPod apart from other MP3 Players? What makes the iTunes Store so much more popular than any other online music service?

The answer: Approachability. A quick learning curve, ease of use, simplicity, elegance, suave, charm, style. Apple's core marketing gimmick, the reason Apple is still around today, the reason the Apple experience is unique is because Apple maintains strict control over their user's experience, and they make the experience as pleasant as possible. Forr example, it's one of the specific reasons Jobs cited for killing off the Apple-licensed clone machines (back in the day).

Now, we all know Real. I don't know many people who can honestly tell me that they've had an overall easy or pleasant experience with Real. Their software media player is nearly a trojan horse, their tech support is abysmal, their website is obnoxiously hideous, etc. And they're one of the better alternatives. If vendors other than Apple have the ability to peddle DRM-protected music for the iPod, then Apple loses a bit of control over the iPod User Experience.

    It might get ugly
Suddenly vendors start changing the rules, right under Apple's nose. Instead of the simple .99 pricing, maybe it's tiered pricing, arbitrarily set up by the folks in charge to make an extra buck, but it confuses/aggrivates the end-user. (and maybe record labels like the better bottom-line & start selling exclusively with Vendor B rather than Apple, thus the Music Store loses marketability). There's no quality-control. Vendors can start ripping less-than perfect copies of the music (or worse, music laced with ads!), market it as "ipod compatible" unsuspecting users buy it & the iPod experience diminishes. In short, Apple loses control.

I've been an Apple user since childhood. I've followed the company closely. I can tell you one thing with certainty. They do not like to lose control of their end-user experience.

DVD Jon may think he's doing us all a favor, and maybe in a shortsighted way he is, but ultimately he's spoiling Apple's marketing strategy & thus risking the iPod's position as the top MP3 Player in market share. The DRM isn't his to license. Hopefully his scheme will be fruitless.

After taking about a 3 hours nap, I've spent the last several hours working on my blog post of the iPhone 3G S launch at the Miami Beach Apple Store.

This being Miami Beach, it wasn't your average launch...with police shoot outs, road blocks, drunk people stumbling by the line (and dancing), and of course Mr. Clucky.

Ah, but YOU'RE missing the point completely. As resolutions inscrease the interface can scale up because it is resolution independent in 10.5. Web pages are NOT resolution independent for the most part. Photos, graphics, interfaces are not. So, when you're looking at your killter 3000x2000 monitor yes your icons and OS interface can scale up and your photos will look very crisp BECAUSE they are vector or have extra resolution to draw from. Websites on the other hand will be fixed at 800x600 or whatever and unless you want them to be miniscule on your screen as they are shown pixel for pixel, they will have to be blown up in some way.

You will still - for example on a 144dpi screen - be able to double the size of the original web page and see what the designer intended to display at 72dpi without any loss. Display quality between 100% & 200% however will be up to the linear interpolation algorythm that the app (or core image) uses.
Any further than that, a regular 72 dpi image will be subject to the normal interpolation rules of graphics scaling i.e. it will get blurry. IMO.

Edit: I havn't tried to put a hi-rez jpeg on a web page for a while, but last I checked, the browser will force it to display at 72dpi if it's not constrained by widths & heights.

I had a similar problem, run through the steps.

If you are running 4.2.1 stop reading, they will say it's "jailbroken", but it is really not.

    1. I used Limera1n and did not receive an icon either. I had to use Greenpois0n.

    2. When you used GreenPois0n, did you see command-line run on your touch? If not, it's not jailbroken.

    3. Try redsn0w, it's not as simple, but it is way more effective.

    4. If you... Wait... I thought it was impossible to jailbreak a iPT 4G right now!

    Yes you can jailbreak ipt4g.

welcome back! I've restarted recently as well. all seems weel except for a minor issue i have with my dual G5..seems to stop folding at odd times. I'm thinking it's a mobile account issue but i'll work it out hopefully.

You have a mobile PowerMac?

What would the mobile account have to do with it? folding@home doesn't need a constant internet connection.
