You have to love small towns. I spent about an hour and a half in one Saturday morning getting my taxes done, so I pulled out the camera while I was waiting. I have a few keepers (by my standards of course, which are pretty low) to show over the next few days.

Well, if someone really wants to know that stuff, there have been 3 or 4 books written in the Halo universe, along with Halo Wars, that fill in a lot of details about the story Pre-Installation 04. Not to mention all the Terminals in Halo 3 and the Datapads in Reach. If you want info, it is out there. And it is good. :D
I might be inclined to read the books, if they are really good. I think it has potential to be an outstanding sci-fi epic. :)
This is a dilemma for all game sequels and has mostly to do with individual tolerance for repetition- more of the same and it's good because I'm having such a good time -or- been there done that. ;)

Frankly, I'm shocked no one has complained about the actual changes to the 'iTunes Store'! Yet. I'm looking at it using iTunes 6 and its like:
They've like basically overhauled the entire browser in there! I'm not too sure how I feel about it...
Yea, its all ugly-fied. Looks like sony connect. Bleh...
Hey, maybe thats what those "Hired Sony Engineers" were doing!

Anyone knows if the mac pro allows us to upgrade to PCI graphics cards bought from retail stores? Will there be any driver issues? Do graphics card vendors include Mac drivers on their installation disc? Never seen one that does though..
Thx for answering.

Wow!!! I definitely did not see this coming on a Wednesday. I'm heading to Apple's site right now to check it all out. Go, Apple!
And $999? Holy...
Edit: Haha, I'm just laughing with excitement over here. I love Apple! :D I'm probably not getting one, but this is so sweet. I definitely can't wait to try it out in an Apple Store.

It's true that a high megapixel count is not anything like the most important factor about a camera, but everything else being equal more megapixels is better than fewer megapixels. I seriously doubt Apple is going to add megapixels just for the number on the specs list.
I think the point is that the technical specs of a photo, and the camera it was taken on, can't make a badly lit, poorly composed photo a good one, and (within reason) can't totally destroy the work of a good photographer who knows what they are doing but only had access to a 'lesser' camera.
Another way of looking at it might be that Leonardo da Vinci could do more impressive work with a pencil and paper than many people could do with a studio full of photoshop artists.
Fair enough.
I think that was common sense and wasn't worth mentioning in any context.

I would have a $97 billion surplus.
Raised the budget of NASA to $30 billion( I do believe manned space flight is important).
Made some small cuts to other organizations up until Defense. Reduced our Defense budget to $471 billion.
Pretty much halted any foreign military aid.
Reduced Education a bit.
Cut Justice a bit.
Cut housing programs a bit
Increased our transportation budget.
Increased taxes 5% for people making $30K to $100K. Raised taxes 10% for $100K to $500K. Increased taxes by 30% for making above $500K.
Increased the corporate income tax by 10%.
Create a Carbon tax that will increase energy cost by $6 a month. Increase alcohol tax to 25 cents per ounce and tax sugary drinks 1 cent per ounce.

Unless you are THERE, YOU CANNOT SEE THE KEYNOTE LIVE. IT WILL BE PUT ON APPLE'S WEBSITE 2 HOURS AFTER THE KEYNOTE ENDS.
MACRUMORS WILL UPDATE US AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE AS TO WHAT IS HAPPENING AT WWDC..
THERE WILL PROBABLY BE A FEW LEAKS BEFORE THE KEYNOTE BEGINS...
I'M CLARIFYING THIS FOR THE 100'S OF PEOPLE THAT KEEP ASKING THE SAME QUESTION!
Yeah, but will it be possible to see it streamed live ???? ;) (kidding) :D

The wait is killing me and my MacBook. My poor machine is dying slowly and painfully. The palmrest has chipped again, the processor is burned out, the fans are loudly overturning to try and keep the processor from overheating only to fail when the processor gets to 87 and the computer shuts itself down to save itself from burning up. The battery "needs servicing". It's a mess. I have waited patiently for a new machine, and will wait patiently for a little while more, but I really hope they come soon.
I am waiting for the 13" Pro's. But if the 15" is enticing enough I might go for it instead. At this point I don't even care what updates we get. As long as it's something.
Also, who needs USB3 right now? I haven't even seen any peripherals that use it that I would buy. And I'm not ready to pay a premium for them right now either. I'm fine with USB2 for a while longer.
I have $1100 coming to me from the government. I want to give it to you, Apple. Just release them new machines!

So this fall, we can expect from Apple...
A Retina Display iPad 3
An A5 powered iPod
and an...
A5 powered iPhone 5 with a 4" screen, 4g, better voice controls, cloud storage and drag and drop support.
Basically, every single thing on this list is about to come true...
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1021233
I could live with that. Apple is going to DOMINATE this Christmas. :)
Except for the fact that Apple is not about to release an iPad 3 this year. They have absolutely no reason to.
June: Preview Lion and iOS 5.
July/August: Release Lion.
June-Sept: Updated iMacs.
Sept: Updated iPods.
Sept/Oct(even Jan): iPhone 5.
Spring 2012: iPad 3.
You really expect them to squeeze a new iPad into the fall. If anything you will see another Air update.

I'm not sure many would agree with you on that. Apple has always been a hardware company. Just because their software drives their hardware doesn't mean they are software focused. If they were primarily a software company, they would have gone the way of Microsoft and put out MacOS to run on any generic PC box. But we all know their take on that. Just to drive my point home, when was the last time Apple released a piece of software that people went nuts about and stood in lines for hours to get?
The iPad 2? Do you really think it just he hardware?
I am going out on a limb here and say you are both wrong. Hardware. Software. Hardware. Software.
The truth is Apple is neither a hardware nor a software company. They are what we in engineering call a Systems Company. A systems company is a company that designs both the hardware and software of disconnected devices. A systems integrator is a company that designs systems of disconnected devices without actually designing the hardware or software. A company like Boeing is a systems integrator. They do not actually build many of the piece parts and write little, if any, of the software on planes like the 787, they simply assemble systems delivered by various vendors. Dell is a systems integrator.
Apple, on the other hand, designs the software in the form of OS X, iOS, XCode, Aperture, iPod OS... and they do design the hardware in the form of custom ASICS for memory controllers, the Apple A4/A5, batteries, cases, specify screens (retina is not COTS) and so on.
They also design protocols for communications like AirPlay, FaceTime, Bojour and so on. These are the pieces to put the individual parts together. This is what makes Apple one of the few system companies left in the world. This is what gives Apple their competitive advantage. This is what makes Apple so amazingly hard to duplicate. Apple's primary competitive advantage is most higher-ups simply do not know what a systems company is. It is a lost art in companies leaving the crazies of the Jack Welsh school of management scratching their head.

lol they're falling like dominoes. so how long does it take for them to go back up with the upgrade?
Usually not long. A week maybe?
Nah. Half an hour I'd say. Absolutely max, all of them.

Not to me. I need documents side by side, and browsers open next to documents to take notes from webcasts. My 13" mba did that just fine although it was more cramped than my HR mbp. the 10" netbook fad never caught on with me for this reason.
13" Mba and 11.6" New MBA have very similar resolutions, there would be very little difference on whats on screen.

Notice the phone besides the ipod and itunes? This page is about podcasts and what is a phone doing there alongside ipod and itunes? Does this spell something
about what we all wanted from apple: the iphone? Just my 2 cents. Leopard rox!
What kind of phone is that? Just a mockup?

"However, this does not mean these other applications are dead - simply that Apple is not talking about them... yet."
So maybe this explains the low price point. $299 for Final Cut Pro X and $999 for the full suite? I hope not. All looks amazing though!
Dude, this software is simply INCREDIBLE!!! It is worth so much more than $999.00 it is not even funny! If they sell each separate for $299 or $999 for the whole suite then that is an awesome deal with more options for individual purchase than before. I CAN'T WAIT to see the rest of the suite especially the new Motion with Shake baked in :) I was a bit nervous that the other apps were dead so this is GREAT news!
I also think this is the end of Final Cut Express. It makes perfect sense. iMovie = Free, Final Cut Pro X = $299, or if you are a pro you will get the whole suite for the same $999 price as before. Simple and better deals all around for everyone!

When you see them in a kiosk at McDonalds...then they will be nearing global domination. :)
I see them at the Best Buy Kiosk's in all the major airports around the country.
If you have flown anywhere lately you have notice Apple products, IPads, MacBooks are the preferred electronic device on most major flights. I was at JFK last week, The waiting areas had 100's of Ipads built into the seats for all those waiting so they could surf the web.

I am a professional editor. I get paid to edit. I just don't edit giant films. I think there is a little discrediting going on for what makes a professional editor.
I was in a discussion a year ago about all the new features that just got released. In the days of yesteryear, editors (film wise) would cut the film, then once they had a locked picture, they would add audio, color the film, sound effects and score. Those days are long gone.
A year ago during a project, I found myself very angry at the way FCP was functioning given the way editors have to edit today. I have been a big FCP user for years and consider myself very experienced with the software. I refer to the editing style of today (which is also being done in feature film editorial) that you are no longer just the film/video editor. YOU ARE the sound designer, the colorist, the composer, and the technician, at least a basic level.
I feel that 10 years ago you would show a "rough" cut that was 50% done, no audio effects, color, or score, just the cuts and clients were able to get it. However, today I feel that a rough cut needs to look more like 95% done. Many times when I show a client a piece of footage that doesnt look like an almost finished product, they get concerned about the final piece, even when you explain that it is a rough cut.
So now that a lot of editors are having to show cuts that are almost done to get notes, the actual act of editing has become a nightmare to me. I have show basically a finished cut (sounds, scores, titles, overlays, graphics) and then when there is a change, I have to move all of the sounds, scores, titles, overlays, graphics out of the way to make the simplest edit. Half the time, something gets moved that isnt supposed to causing extra work. And I will be honest, sometimes, (which I know we all do....) I say "good enough," because the actual act of moving a giant timeline around is just too painful.
Well not anymore! (hopefully)
I want the freedom that FCPX will hopefully provide.
And of course one final thought. A good editor is a good editor, it is an art. Just because someone is an "expert" on AVID, PP, FCP doesnt mean they are a good editor. Same as someone who knows how to put paint on canvas isn't necessarily Van Gogh.
I think this version will help us tell stories easily and more efficiently. It is still up to the editor what he/she will do with the tool.
