Well in case you haven't noticed, Kanye West's performance has been removed from the webcast version of Apple Music Event.

I'd change the hard drive out too. I've bought six G3 iMacs in the last few years and the hard drive of every one has died after a few months of proper use if it wasn't dead already.

Give it a speedy 80-120gb drive and 512mb of RAM and it'll speed up to no end. They're still very usable computers!

My iMac G5 is really starting to show its age. I can't decide if I want a 27" iMac or a 13" MacbookAir. I don't really need an optical drive. I use it to import CD's to iTunes. I can always do that on anther Mac and transfer the files later.

There are ALOT more variables in deciding between an iMac 27 inch and a 13 inch MBA apart from CD-Rom drive

one big one is... Do you need mobility or are you usually stationed?

One thread where I shall read every post.

It's interesting to note how it affected so many people beyond the victims and their families... much of that footage I saw on TV that day I have never seen again, particularly that huge dust cloud enveloping everything.

I have been waiting for a major upgrade to the cinema displays since I got my laptop in June 2006 - since waiting like the rest of you.

I wonder if eventually the iMac will be thinner than the current cinema displays, then they will have to upgrade.

To be honest, it doesn't need to be a major upgrade, take the price down by a third and half the thickness of the screen and I would be happy.

One day my friends...one day

Many people opt to use a standard account for their normal day to day stuff and an admin account for updates and system maintenance type tasks

It's primary benefit is protecting the system from intended or intended actions. While many people use a single admin account there are benefits from restricting access.

With a new computer or a reinstall you are present with a series of screens to create a new account and that new account is an admin account. You have to have at least one admin account.

After which you can create multiple accounts (both standard and/or admin). To create the accounts go into the system preferences and select Accounts. Click on the plus sign on the lower left (of the padlock icon is unlocked if locked unlock it and enter your password) select the account type and details. You now have a new account :)

I wasn't talking about the iGadgets, because they are actually competitively priced.

I'm talking about the Mac line.

The numbers make it clear that consumers are willing to buy the Mac line at their current prices.

I have 12mb/896k DSL through Qwest and pay $51.99 a month right now and it goes up to the normal price $64.99 in a year. That is with a home phone through them as well.

Noise Ninja (http://www.picturecode.com/). It can do wonders to the quality of your photographs.

I was pretty desperate to get a better camera, but now with a few minutes in noise-ninja I'm really impressed with how some of the shots actually look. Sure, a better camera will make them better still, but right now I have other things I'd rather spend my money on, and purchase the camera at a later date.

    No water damage right?

I mean, I really doubt it is, it was in my pocket today when someone splashed water on me, but I doubt very much touched it if at all.

It's starting to get really weird, like the home button will work for a little bit and then voice control will randomly activate and then I'll lose control of the phone and it'll act like I'm screwing with the home button (the quick-start menu will pop up, it'll switch black-and-white mode, voice control, etc...)

Maybe it is water damage? I mean, the phone wasn't wet or anything, how would I know?

I can't believe AT&T still won't unlock iPhones: In the UK, O2 will unlock anyone's contract phone for free (you just need to ask), and a PAYG one for 15 (plus the loss of the free web bolt on you get for the first 12 months).

When does the bullring carpark open? If not i might have to park in chinatown.

I think it opens at 7. It did for the iPad release anyway.

Actually, if all you did is format the drive (and you didn't install), it may very well be possible to get all of your data back. You'll need another OS to boot from, but if you manually recreate the partition table, it's likely that the windows format did not quite reach where the HFS+ directory structure is stored and only overwrote the partition table itself and parts of the EFI partition.

Once you're booted from a good OS, you can rewrite the partition table from Terminal. This will have the benefit that your existing volume won't need to be reformatted. You may need a utility like Disk Warrior to clean up the directory structure afterward.

First, you'll need to figure out the disk number of the hard drive. If you're booted from the machine (rather than a different machine, using the drive as an external), it's going to be /dev/disk0. The following will rewrite the partition table to near-default (possibly a little bigger primary volume):

    sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/disk0 bs=512 count=10 conv=sync,noerror
    sudo gpt destroy /dev/disk0
    sudo gpt create /dev/disk0
    sudo gpt add -i1 -b40 -s409600 -tC12A7328-F81F-11D2-BA4B-00A0C93EC93B /dev/disk0
    sudo gpt add -i2 -b409640 -t48465300-0000-11AA-AA11-00306543ECAC /dev/disk0

Then use Disk Utility (or preferably Disk Warrior) to repair the directory structure.

If you don't want to do all that or can't, you can use Disk Utility to format the drive from the Mac OS X Install disk. I've seen situations where that still wouldn't work, so you may have to do the first two commands anyway.

I have a video that i recorded back in October with my iPhone 4, but for some reason now it won't play. It says "The movie could not be opened. The file is not a movie file. I have tried a bunch of different corrupted video repair software programs....i got one to convert a little bit of it (you have to pay over $100 to get the full converted video.) While the video is a nice short little video, it isn't worth $100 to have it ...however, is there another way to fix these? i know it helps to have a video that is a reference video shot around the same time, which i do. if anyone has any suggestions, i would greatly appreciate it.

Tried opening in other players then QuickTime? The message doesnt say the file is corrupted is why I'm asking. Try at least VLC, Handbrake, and MPEG Streamclip...
