I scanned in class notes into a pdf file. I then arranged the PDFs in the order I wanted using Preview. Now I can't seem to save the whole thing as one big file, so I can view it on my ipad.
When I click File, the option it gives me is "save as" and will only save that one pdf slide to my desktop.
I need help, I just spent 5 hours doing all this, with well over 600 pages.
thanks in advance
While you have them open in Preview, select all (Cmd + A), and go to the File->Print Selected... or something like that. Click the PDF button in the lower left hand corner of the print dialog.

I see, it makes perfect sense.
When the case for my new drive arrives I'll try your solution since my Mac Mini 1.66 Core Duo has been struggling a bit lately (the sad thing is that it's blazing fast on Windows 7, I guess that's because I'm limited to 2GB of RAM and UNIX based systems like OS X improve a lot by adding more)

Yeah Idk if JailBreakMe will be making one for 4.3.1 but I don't follow Comex so I may as well just do RedSnow.
Thanks

Yep. I agree. And if you've used Android lately on a phone, you'd say iPhone what?!?! Apple still has the more solid tablet but Android OS will have that market by summertime as well.
Don't bother flaming, it's well documented in the sales figures that Android has taken the #1 spot in the Phone OS model... my only point is Apple is at a critical turning point in their history. They can give customers what they want, or restrict. Customers don't like to be restricted, and like me, seek alternatives when cornered.
What you fail to realise is that Apple are giving their customers what they want. Apple customers do like to be restricted, that's why they are Apple customers and that's why they buy Apple products.

Wow, those are definitely sweet looking. Can any iSkin owners comment on how they "feel" in your hand? I bought a skin for my 3G iPod at Best Buy for like... $15, and it's rubber/silicon I believe, but it always feels dirty/grimey, and attracts dust and hair like you wouldn't believe.

yes. I've never seen the allocator and release in different functions. I always make a separate destructor though.

To video folks: For those of you working with motion graphics, particularly in HD (lets just say 1080p to be safe), do you find the response time on the ACDs to be sufficient for working with HD content? How about full screen HD playback?
I find ACD's really good quality all-around purpose displays. IPS is faster than PVA, so they hold their name pretty good. ACD's are also pretty fine without profiling, which most other dislpays need badly before any color work. With profiling ACD's are naturally even better. If you need higher quality, you'll have to get displays with hardware LUT.
Personally, I decided that I won't buy anything to myself (displays or graphics adapters) without hdcp.
Also, I'm considering getting a 17" MBP (soon, I'd like to wait for a refresh but the money isn't coming out of my personal coffers); what is your feeling about it pumping out HD content to a 30" ACD? The ACD would actually be for home use with the MBP. How does it perform pushing HD content?
I'm also waiting for led backlit 17", although I couldn't afford it now, so it's nice it's not showing up...
MBP should have no effort to playback 1080p. At least if it isn't too fat bandwidth, so that hdd/lan can stream it.

If the volume issue is mainly with iTunes:
Check the gain settings on your equalizer in iTunes, or unmark the "on" checkbox in the equalizer.
The gain, ideally, should be set to 0dB. It could be that your last iMac had the gain up permanently, creating a louder than normal output. If it is at or below 0dB, you could drive the gain up. Be warned that this can cause some clipping/distortion of your sound.
If the volume is down also with alerts and quicktime movies, check your sound preferences "output volume" is set high enough. (You didn't mention which volume control you have played with in your previous posts).

You didn't mention your Cydia version; I will assume it is 1.0.3222-73. This is a long shot, but you might try installing the newer version of Cydia, 1.0.3366-1, to see if that helps. You can get it here:
http://apt.saurik.com/debs/cydia_1.0.3366-1_iphoneos-arm.deb
You would need to use SSH to put this on your iPhone, somewhere like /var/stash. Then you would navigate to the .deb file in iFile, tap it and select Installer from the menu.
The problem with cracked apps, aside from the piracy aspect, is that you would never really know what you are getting.
By the way, that "essential upgrade" was like a month ago wasn't it? And your Cydia apparently was working for a while after that. Did you install that Icy app? I tried that and found it was making the AppStore act funny and I had to get rid of it. I never saw a problem with Cydia, but maybe because I never actually installed much of anything with Icy.

You think that's the new iLife '06...? ;)
I don't know, you think they'll really hold out until June for iLife '06? :p
Everyone else, thanks for the comments but now I have question: twitch or bounce?

Personally, I would say,If you want to design a new Mac Website, just do it !
I have my own websites and do it for the fun of doing it.
I don't think you can oversaturate the Mac market. If people like your new site then they will come back, start small and personal and you should get some visitors.
Have a think of what interests you and work from that, I personally use my experience from working with Mac's for so long; and so one of my sites is a help forum: you can put up what ever you want that's the fun bit, if you don't like it or get no visitors you can always change it.
Let us know how you get on.
Regards
Ric

I had been using my MBP all morning with no problems. I shut the screen and let it go into sleep mode for about an hour before I went back to get on it. At first I thought it just wasn't waking up from sleep mode, because the screen just stayed black but the fans booted up and I could hear it running. So, I shut the lid again, opened, and nothing.
Tried rebooting. The screen stays black the entire time, and I hear the faint sound of the start up sound. When I close the screen, the light at the front doesn't do the "breathing" that it does when in sleep mode. It just stays lit.
Does this sound like a display problem, or some other issue? Any ideas/suggestions?
Weird. The exact same thing happened to me today. Mine is an early 08 model... Will check the link.
Edit... I was afraid that was going to be what the link said. Friggen 8600.

Heres the thing the new wireless spectrum actually is WiMax, to those who don't know what WiMax is, pretty much some people say its WIFI on steroids. Also the fact that if Tmobile is talking to apple it may have to do not only with Iphones but laptops. Wimax works in a way that you can have broadband connections up to 75mbps. So if Tmobile is talking to Apple they are probably going to design a chip or something so that people who buy apple then sign on to Tmobile and will have access to the internet with extremely high speeds anywhere in the US. :) What Tmobile is doing has more to do with Laptops than it would with Phones. Think of it on WiMax you can have IPTV and VOIP running and still surf the net. Not only that Intel and Motorola invested over 1 billion into Clearwire, INTEL IS designing new chips for WIMAX. I dont think this has to do with the Iphones.
If this is the direction T-Mobile is heading in... I'm there. Although I doubt it would be something seen anytime soon. Not that I would buy a T-Mobile phone, but I'd get their net access if it was Mac compatible. Heck, if any cell provider offered Mac compatible broadband, I'd be on it. Even if that menat having to buy a new machine, just for the compatibility. What better excuse for a new Mac? :)

Not sure why people think this is bad. Fair use if you ask me.
OTOH it's possibly open to abuse but i think it's worth the risk. I'm not overly keen on DRM stopping people doing what they like with stuff they've paid for. I wouldn't touch a DRM CD for example. All my downloads are from places that don't do DRM (and have at least 320kbps mp3 or better).

I made a project in C that was a "command line tool" in XCode. It uses GLUT/OpenGL, so it does have a user interface. It works fine, and I can run it from Terminal, but I was wondering if there was any way to allow it to run from Finder.
I did create a new target (a Cocoa application), and I included the linked frameworks and removed the prefix header and it compiles and runs. However, it won't work from Finder. I think that the problem is that my program relies on a file named "Input" that it assumes is in its directory. I tried using
FILE* data = fopen("../../Input", "r");

I'm sure you don't want to hear this, but I think you're better off with an iMac or a mac mini with a nice IPS monitor. I understand that the mac pro is easier to expand, but if you plan on keeping it for 4 years you could buy a new mac mini every year and still come out the same.
Better to spend money on upgraded lenses and external backups.

My university's tech department uses several of THESE (http://www.newertech.com/products/charger_cond.php) to charge their library loaner Macbook batteries between checkouts. I asked them about it once as I was having the need to keep two batteries charged. Said that it helps with conditioning as well.

I read an article that said that Intel chips are more likely to attract hackers, because in order for the chips to work properly, Mac have to recode the OS therefore causing a loop hole which hackers can use - Only something I read but if its true, who knows?
