But yes, if you want to save money, a RAID0 from mechanical drives is fine for scratch. Just make sure it's backed up.
So the scratch disk berea to be backed up too? I thought the scratch disk (in this case used just for Photoshop) is used just for overflow if you run out of RAM and once you are done working on the particular file and save it, it clears the scratch disk?
What kind of backup would be appropriate anyway? Time Machine only backs up hourly and files being worked in may not even be open that long.

Looking at the way the Elder Chinese man is dressed actually looks fairly normal for China.
The sandals, the blue suit and the cap are a fairly standard form of dress among the more senior Chinese male citizen.

Hello everyone. I recently deleted a ton of fonts I had on my computer, because I had so many it was just annoying me to wait 8 minutes every time I needed to use the text tool. So I deleted just tons of fonts. Now when I try to use the text tool it's saying this:
Could not complete your request because of a program error.
Also in the pull down menu when I select a font it doesn't put a font in the box right? It just leaves it blank.
Anyone have any idea's, do I need more info? Please help.

is there an app that can change the tags of an mp3 based on it's file name? for instance if a file is called 01 - Song One.mp3, I'm looking for something that could recognize the file name as <track #> - <name>.mp3 and edit the tags accordingly for a batch of files? there's a zillion programs on pc that do this but i can't seem to find a single one for mac..

I have a G5 with OSX 10.3.7 and I'm having the worst time with it. It wasn't so bad before but for some reason now, the WMV3 Codec is appearing in almost every video I want to watch on my Macintosh. Usually it gave itself away when files have the "WMV" type attached, but lately the codec is masking itself into even my trusted AVI files.
I've tried every possible solution, I've tried Windows Media Player, VLC Player, MPLAYER, etc. I've even tried converting the WMV file type to something else but the programs on Macintosh can't do it. I tried calling Apple Support but they wanted $50.00 just for me to talk to somebody. Is there any way to play this type of file? What, am I going to have to run out and conform to a horrible PC because of it? It's bad enough Macro Media Flash Player is trash on the Macintosh, but if I can't even view movies....what's the point anymore of having Macintosh? God knows I love the thing but really, this is just annoying :(
Well, now you know the downside to proprietary formats and why people, especially around here, bash M$. You can't play it on the Mac, because M$ doesn't want you to play it on the Mac (at least not well); they want you to run Windows. Reference: The EU case against M$.
If you can't play it with QT or VLC, don't bother with it.

AT&T today announced (http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pid=18230&cdvn=news&newsarticleid=31017) the launch of its revamped and renamed U-verse Mobile application [App Store (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/u-verse-mobile/id312886438?mt=8)], bringing customers of the company's U-verse television service the ability to not only schedule DVR recordings remotely but also to download selected TV content for viewing on their iOS devices.U-verse Mobile replaces the popular Mobile Remote Access for iPhone app and incorporates the ability to browse the U-verse TV program guide, view program descriptions, schedule and manage your DVR recordings, while adding the ability to download available episodes over any Wi-Fi connection, and watch them in full-screen mode on your iPhone from anywhere. U-verse TV customers already enjoy the flexibility of remote DVR management. More than 100,000 U-verse TV customers use the Web and Mobile Remote Access apps every month.
"We're making it possible for you to watch TV shows on your iPhone at no extra charge. It's just one more valuable and innovative feature available on U-verse TV," said David Christopher, chief marketing officer, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. "Our U-verse multi-screen promise is now a reality for millions of U-verse TV customers, with content available on U-verse TV, U-verse Online, and today, U-verse Mobile. No cable provider comes close to matching the cross-platform experience we're delivering today, and we'll continue to add unique features that further integrate these screens."The new download service is available to customers subscribing to AT&T's U300 package or higher. Content is currently available from "several popular networks" with more networks to be added over time.
AT&T's U-verse application launched (http://www.macrumors.com/iphone/2009/06/18/atandts-u-verse-iphone-application-appears-in-app-store/) a little over a year ago and offered remote DVR scheduling. The company had been rumored (http://www.macrumors.com/iphone/2008/09/16/atandt-working-on-iphone-u-verse-integration/) to be working on a more substantial integration (http://www.macrumors.com/2009/03/23/more-details-on-next-generation-iphone-3g-netbook-due-this-summer/) of U-verse with the iPhone. But even now, users are restricted to downloading content from AT&T's mobile library of shows rather than direct live integration with the customer's DVR.

The eMac is a better system than many people give it credit for.
It actually has superior hardware to the mini or the iBook.
The 17" CRT display is also very nice to work with.
Your mom will appreciate it's clean looks and ease of use, so really
if you set it up so both of you can benefit from it why not?

I had an early 2010 week 23 iphone 4, and it had a ton of death grip signal issues. I had to get it replaced because the power button was loose and got a new 2011 week 11 (early march) iPhone 4. I notice that the death grip still occurs, but is much less of an issue. I consistently have a stronger signal than before.
Anybody else notice this?

I always make a trip to the Company Store when I visit my parents in the Bay Area. Actually going there next week. I'd be happy to buy stuff for anybody who wants it. Shirts are about $20 I think and they also have mugs, water bottles and junk like that. Best thing from that store is the "I visited the mothership" shirt.
PM me if you want me to pick something up for you. Just pay for the item and shipping. I'll probably go next Tuesday.

Saw an old Asian man in the SF apple store looking at a site that you could rent other men by the hour. Included in the description of the men were naked pictures, he proceeded to take down the phone numbers of each man on a piece of scratch paper. This man had to be in his late 60s looking at guys in their 20s... best part was that he was on the 27 inch imac and a nicer looking elderly lady was next to him completely oblivious... good stuff at the apple store, or maybe good stuff in SF?
I know picture or it wasn't true, but the last thing that I was thinking about was taking a picture of this...

For some reason, when I run the Bootcamp assistant I do not get the option to download Windows support software.
I had an old version of Bootcamp which I used but it hasn't given me everything; for example the keyword function keys (volume up/down etc) are not working.
This is on a Macbook Air 2010 13" ultimate, Mac OS X 10.6.6 (haven't updated to .6.7)
Any suggestions? Any manual option for downloading?

Earlier today there were reports of the iTunes and App Store servers having problems. That was about 7 hours ago though. I don't think that is your problem but just to let you know.

Not sure if there was a thread on this that I missed, but just wanted to inform any digital B&W junkies out there that the newest version of Silver EFEX Pro is available. It is a software plugin for LightRoom/Aperture/Photoshop to help with conversions of color images to B&W. Does a pretty nice job with minimal hassle. Much better than the "generic" conversions these programs offer.
Here is the link:

I like the Nik plugins in general and this one in particular. I haven't played around with this newest version yet (just upgraded tonight), but I love the last version. Pleasing results with a minimal learning curve.

Hey Everyone,
This is my first post, wanted to get some help on a problem with my Casecrown Black Metallic Slider case. The case is great don't get me wrong, but the damn thing is stuck! I am using a Zagg Invisible Shield on the front and back (I probably should have taken off the back one before putting the case on, correct?). Any solutions getting the case removed?
Also, is it worth keeping this case if its going to get stuck everytime? Any recommendation? Thanks to all in advance who decide to help a first timer out.
