‘Twilight’ Inspires Top Baby Names

The “Twilight love triangle between Bella, Edward and Jacob has captivated the lives of twi-hards all over the world. Now, it appears, the great influence of the book and movie franchise has spilled over into baby names.
According to the Social Security Administration, Isabella and Jacob are themost popular baby names in America, and just happen to duplicate the infamous ‘Twilight’ couple. With all of the buzz revolvingTaylor Lautner this past year, it comes as no surprise that his character, Jacob, is ranked number one, along with Kristen Stewart‘s character, Bella. Jacob’s on screen competition, Edward (played by Robert Pattinson) is ranked all the way down at number 136.
The British royals also inspired popular baby names all the way across the pond. William, inspired by the one and only Prince William (now officially titled Prince William, Duke of Cambridge)  ranks in at number five in the boys’ list. Elizabeth, the name of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, holds the number 12 spot for girls.
The SSA has also been tracking which names have seen the biggest jumps in popularity. The top trending names for boys and girls in 2010 have been inspired by pop culture as well. Maci Bookout and her son Bentley Cadence Edwards, who appeared on the first season of MTV’s ‘Teen Mom‘ in late 2009, have sparked trends for the names Maci and Bentley, topping this list on both the girls and boys end. Also on the girls trending list; Giuliana (inspired by Guliana Rancic, E! News reporter), Tiana (Princess Tiana, from Disney’s “Princess and the Frog“) and Quinn (Dianna Argon‘s character on the hit TV show, ‘Glee‘).
Joining Bentley on the boys trending names are Kellan (Kellan Lutz, also from the ‘Twilight’ saga), Knox (Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt‘s 2 year-old baby) and Enzo (the neighbor that Heidi andSpencer Pratt looked over on the last season of ‘The Hills‘).
